This spreadsheet is for anyone who wants to see their complete financial picture in one place — not just their bank balance or debt total, but their genuine net worth: everything they own minus everything they owe. Whether you're building wealth, paying down debt, or simply trying to get an honest view of where you stand financially, this gives you the full picture.

It's especially valuable for homeowners who want to track equity building over time, investors who want to see their portfolio's contribution to their overall net worth, and anyone working toward a specific net worth milestone — whether that's zero, $100K, or financial independence.

Step 1 — Enter Your Assets

On the Assets & Liabilities sheet, list every significant asset you own — up to 15 — such as home equity or property value, investments, savings accounts, retirement accounts, vehicles (current market value), and any other assets. Assign each to a category: Cash & Savings, Investments, Property, Vehicles, Personal Valuables, or Other.

Step 2 — Enter Your Liabilities

In the liabilities section next to your assets, list every debt balance (up to 15): mortgage remaining, car loans, credit card balances, personal loans, student loans, or any other liability. Your total liabilities, net worth, and debt-to-asset ratio all calculate instantly.

Step 3 — Record a Monthly Snapshot

At the end of each month, update your assets and liabilities, then enter your Total Assets and Total Liabilities for that month on the Monthly Snapshot History sheet. The trend chart builds month by month as you add each snapshot (up to 24 months), and once you have 13 or more months a year-over-year comparison appears.

Step 4 — Review Your Asset Allocation

The asset allocation chart shows how your wealth is distributed across different categories. A high concentration in illiquid assets like property is worth monitoring — this view makes it easy to see whether your wealth is well-diversified or heavily weighted in one area.

Step 5 — Track Your Debt-to-Asset Ratio

Your debt-to-asset ratio is calculated automatically each time you update. A ratio below 50% is generally considered healthy for most households. Watch this number fall over time as you pay down debt and build assets — it's one of the most meaningful single-number indicators of financial health.

Tips for Growing Your Net Worth

Net worth grows from two directions simultaneously: reducing liabilities and increasing assets. The fastest short-term gains usually come from debt reduction on high-interest balances, while long-term wealth is built by consistent investment. Use this tracker to see the combined effect of both and to stay motivated by the overall upward trend, even in months where one metric moves in the wrong direction.

What types of assets can I track?

Up to 15 assets, each placed in one of six categories — Cash & Savings, Investments, Property, Vehicles, Personal Valuables, or Other. Retirement accounts, business equity and collectibles fit under Investments or Other. Enter a description and current value and the totals update automatically.

How often should I update it?

A monthly update is the most common and useful frequency — enough to show meaningful trends without requiring constant data entry. Log a snapshot at the end of each month and the trend chart tells your financial story (up to 24 months).

Does this work with Google Sheets?

Yes. Upload the .xlsx file to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets. All formulas, charts, and the allocation view are fully compatible at no extra cost.

How do I download after purchase?

Payhip sends an instant download link to your email immediately after payment. You can also access all your purchases anytime through your Payhip account at payhip.com.
